PRO's:
- Only the atomic bomb could jolt Japan's leadership to surrender
- It was too risky and wasteful to just demonstrate one bomb over an evacuated area
- If the U.S. waited to drop the bomb, japan would of invaded us and there would of been double the casualties on both sides than the casualties made in the bombings
- the immediate use of the bomb created horror and prevention of future bombings
- The bomb impressed the Soviet Union and stopped the war quickly enough that they didnt become allies with Japan
- Japan was ready to give up anyways because of so many side attacks
- American refusal to surrender allowed the Japanese to keep their emperor
- If the U.S. did a demonstration of the bomb, it would of convinced Japan's leaders to surrender without killing a lot of people
- The U.S. didn't give enough time for the message to get out of how bad Hiroshima was hit before it hit Nagasaki
- The Bomb was to justify the $2 billion spent on its development
- Japanese sacrificed their lives for power politics between the U.S. and the Soviet Union
- Firebombing would of caused the same amount of damage without making the U.S. being the first nation to use nuclear weapons
